Colusa Riverside Alpaca ranch is in northern California nestled at the base of the historic Sutter Buttes and along the Sacramento River. The alpaca ranch now resides on what was the Colusa Sanitary Dairy. The Colusa Sanitary Dairy served Colusa County dairy needs from the early to mid 20th century. The property was purchased in 1987, and has since been refurbished. Dave and Sheila have raised their family on the ranch, and now in the tradition of its past, the ranch is again home to another type of herd, the alpaca. The ranch has large lush pastures for alpacas to graze and play. We believe not only in improving alpaca breeding for quality alpacas and fiber, but also in providing a healthy habitat for each alpaca. When we sell you an alpaca, you can be assured of a healthy animal. Be sure to view our affordable packages of alpacas for sale!

MISSION STATEMENT:
Breeding for Industry Excellence

Our philosophy is to breed only for improvement of the alpaca and its fiber. We look forward to becoming a contributor in improving the quality in the United States alpaca herd, and helping to progress this fiber industry toward being a worldwide fiber market leader. Colusa Riverside Alpacas hopes to also be a contributor to the body of literature useful to the average alpaca owner and breeder.

EXPECTED PROGENY DIFFERENCES (EPDs):

We aspire to become progressive breeders. Our goal is to build a herd with unmatched personal and industry breed standards. Finally, we are planning our breeding practices to develop alpacas with superior histograms and Expected Progeny Differences. Colusa Riverside Alpacas goal is to contribute to the body of knowledge of the alpaca for the benefit of all owners and the industry. We will be focusing our breeding on EPDs as a prime consideration for our choices.

After spending several years preparing the ranch and since Dave's retirement as a Deputy Sheriff, the business has grown substantially and is thriving. Dave is currently serving the California Alpaca Breeders Association as a Board Director. Sheila has a special interest in researching and publishing information on health and illness in the alpaca. Sheila is a contributing author for the Camelid Quarterly and Alpaca Magazine. She is Professor of Nursing for Yuba College, and presently is the Director of Nursing. She invites you to visit her web library at www.colusariversidealpacas.com and read her other publications.

We welcome all visitors to our riverside alpaca ranch in California, and we enjoy being in the family of alpaca ranchers in the North State.
